The Placencia, Belize

The Blue Hole

The last week of January 2011 found Lightroom on the sunny shores of Belize.  Belize is a fascinating country where Central America meets the Caribbean.  Lush jungles cover the mountains and hillsides that rise up dramatically from the pristine shores where blue Caribbean waters lap Our crew from Anthill Films – the premier sports adventure filmmakers and unbelievable Cineflex helicopter shots courtesy of Blue Sky Aerials.

The shoot was awesome and the show, for The Placencia Resort & Residences is now in post production.  The Resort is an amazing master planned community and the show promises to be our best yet.  In a week we shot pretty much the entire country, from Mayan Pyramids to the Blue how, Exotic rivers winding through mountainous jungle to the largest coral reef in the Western Hemisphere.

The Crew shooting at a Cenote

Belize is an incredible place. the people are very warm and friendly. English is the official language and everyone we met was very fluent. The pace of life is relaxed and even though we were working from sunrise to sunset each day we could feel the pull of the Caribbean lifestyle.  A little rum punch on the pier after a hard day works wonders. I was struck daily by the diversity of the country from its people to its geography.  Lush mountains, grassy savannas, orange groves and banana plantations, coconut palms set along sandy beaches. Mangrove lined lagoons where you are likely to spot a manatee and her calf.
